Steampunk Art and Crafts Projects
For those who didn’t visit my webpage, and saw the information about the art and crafts projects I am going to embark on, was the earlier post, with all the pictures of materials and tools for these projects, a little out of the blue so I copied and pasted the info from my web page to this post.
that is te reason that the design of this post (it is more a webpage design) is a little off, but I deemed it good enough to post it.

This are some of the projects I am going to work on:
1. Steampunk “bug” Ring (16 GB Flashdrive)
2. Seampunk “owl” Necklace (16 GB Flashdrive)
3. Steampunk Broche (Complex lock mechanism / 16 GB Flashdrive)
4. Steampunk “piston” Flashdrive(16 GB)
5. “Steamial” (Futher exploration of this idea needed)
As a tinkerer, inventor and craftsman (or at least I try), I am in the process of crafting some USB flashdrives with a “steampunk” feel, in the form of jewelry or other stuff that fits the gentleman or lady of the steampunk age.
The first materials and tools are received (see earlier post)
the additional tools I need are ordered.
I don’t like it when an item is identified as a modern real-world item like a Flashdrive at first glance, I want it to give it an item a steampunk look first and then it haves a hidden second use, like a flash drive or maybe something else, but for the moment the items I am going to make will have a 16GB (Micro) Flashdrive hidden inside. (with a complex as possible locking mechanism)
By the way I have an autistic disorder, so I am a sucker for details. I don’t know how long it will take me to craft these projects and to a standard that I myself find acceptable. But when a project is finished I will sell it (probably on eBay), so I can afford the next project.
1.STEAMPUNK BUG RING (16 GB USB FLASHDRIVE)
With the wing covers closed the bug will have some steampunk feel to it like the legs and the head with chimney’s, but when they are opened the full impact (a cogs and piston machinery) will be revealed.
I like to use pistons in my designs, but then included with the tubing
The ring will be adjustable to different sizes, how I not really know yet.
2. STEAMPUNK OWL NECKLACE (16 GB USB FLASHDRIVE)
I want the owl sits on the necklace and not hanging under it, the main body I want to make out of luxury looking wood with a mechanical inner workings, but not only glued in but with moving parts and interlocking cogs and gears.
The lock of the necklace is composed of the two sides of a split USB connector one on either end of the chain/lace and when unlocked these two sides can be combined to the connector to use the flashdrive.
